The Gaines Street Revitalization Project was funded more than ten years ago and all we have to show for it is a funky statute in Cascades Park and some broken ground—ripped up asphalt along Gaines Street. Remember the one penny sales tax? Whatever happened to that money? Does traffic seem to get worse each year? And doesn’t the City seem to demand more and more each year in utility rates and other fees? How do we know our taxes are being spent properly?

I agree with your assessment above. It is time for change, but it is more than going with the current anti-incumbent attitude that is rushing across the nation these days. With Steve, I see a true leader, someone who is not afraid to confront the issues that matter to all citizens. He is a small business owner who could lose a lot by upsetting the “establishment”, but he chooses to stand up for his ideals and press the important issues.
I have met Steve several times and he seems to be the real deal. I appreciate his dedication to true transparency in local government. It has been most refreshing.
We need to support Steve, and folks like him, who want to step up and make a true difference. So much is to be gained by having hard working individuals elected to office.
I think Steve wants to serve the City of Tallahassee and not be served by it.
“Ask not what your City can do for you, but what YOU can do for your City!” I believe the current leadership at City Hall has proven than they are in it for themselves and what they can get out of their office. Steve’s message of accountibility tells me that he is headed downtown to serve this community, not take all he can get.
