Florida State College Republicans have a special place in my heart. I spent a few good years as one myself. The following is from a young man whom I’ve had the privilege of knowing over the past couple of years. Alejandro Capote is an FSU College Republican from Hialeah, Florida. Alejandro came to the United States from Cuba when he was six years old and became a U.S. citizen in April 2011. Presently he is a Grassroots Intern at the Leadership Institute.
College is more than preparation for a profession. It is a time when habits and philosophies are formed. When I started at Florida State University, I became involved in Florida State University College Republicans. This is how I know Jeff Howell.
Jeff has been a positive force for the FSU College Republicans. He has gotten us involved in local politics. It easy for organizations to attend socials where like-minded people get together, but Jeff’s influence has ensured that the CRs are ever active in Leon County politics. He has recruited us to walk precincts, phone bank, and wave signs. He has encouraged us to join the Leon County Republican Executive Committee. FSU CRs receive excellent experience in advocating for conservative candidates while advancing the cause of conservatism in Leon County.
Jeff has made the College Republicans a priority for the Leon County Republican Party, raising our profile among active Republicans. He has helped in fundraising efforts. And he has been an excellent mentor. College campuses are not friendly to conservatism. Jeff’s investment of time and energy has built a community that is where conservatism can flourish.
When you vote for State Committee, remember the impact that Jeff Howell has made on the FSU College Republicans. Many people can sit on committees, attend meetings, even get elected to leadership positions. But it takes real leadership to recruit people and then work alongside them for a cause. Jeff is a real leader. Vote for Jeff Howell for Leon County Republican State Committeeman.
