If you end up receiving an Absentee Ballot and decide that you’d rather vote in person, at the polls, the just ignore your absentee ballot and head to your local polling location.

Chairman Curry has written an editorial that appeared in the Tallahassee Democrat:
There is nearly unanimous agreement in our nation that government has a fundamental responsibility to assist the most vulnerable among us. Perhaps no group of Americans is more vulnerable than children who — through no fault of their own — are born into poverty. Across the nation and here in Florida, we have a tradition of providing a safety net for children.
But financial assistance is only part of our society’s obligation. Another important part of our responsibility to kids is to ensure their safety and security in the home. With that in mind, Gov. Rick Scott and Florida Republicans have acted conscientiously by mandating drug testing of those adults who seek cash assistance for kids.
Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) is a state-managed program that gives struggling families cash to support their children while they are making efforts to improve their households. Literally, this is taxpayer money given to adults to care for their kids. Isn’t it reasonable for Florida to ensure that every penny of our money goes where it should — to the kids who need our help?
The answer we get from liberal special interests and some Democrats in Tallahassee is “No.”
Leon County Republicans were well represented in Orlando at Presidency 5 with over 80 dedicated activists attending and taking part.
As Governor Scott has said, all roads to the White House lead through Florida. I look forward to working with you to increase Republican registration and increase Republican turnout for 2012.

Go Republicans!! It was so exciting seeing that Leon County was so well represented at the Presidency 5 Straw Poll today. We had one of the top 5 county delegations. Leon County’s Republicans got great seats up close to the podium. We had lots of longtime Republicans, Young Republicans, FSU College Republicans, Republican Women Federated, as well as grassroots Republicans!
We heard great speeches from Rick Santorum, Newt Gingrich, and Herman Cain who won big!!
I am so proud of our local Republican Party which is invirgorated and on the move!

ORLANDO, Fla.– It was a great night at the Fox News Debate Thursday. Nine Presidential Candidates, 3500 in the audience, and millions watching. All candidates offered great solutions to the problems facing America. It was great seeing so many delegates in the audience from Tallahassee/Leon County. Herman Cain had the best quips and quotes! Of course there was also Gary Johnson’s joke about “shove-ready jobs/dogs.”.
Afterwards many of us headed over to the Tilted Knilt Grill for some beverages, food and fellowship. Tomorrow is C-PAC, a Leon County Delegation Reception, and the State Republican Executive Committee Meeting where we elect a new State Chairman!
Do you remember how you felt the day after the current occupant of the White House won? Most Republicans were dejected, angry, and without hope for the future. The liberal press wrote that perhaps this marked the beginning of the end of the Republican Party in America and that the loss represented the failed ideology of Conservative thought. The 2010 Elections put those media generated myths to bed.
Presidency 5 is a gathering of citizens and conservative activists from around Florida who for three days hear and meet the Presidential Candidates and vote in a Straw Poll this Saturday. Combined with an exciting program on Friday put on by C-PAC, September 22-24 will be one of the largest gatherings of Republicans in recent memory. Only next year’s Republican National Convention in Tampa will be bigger.
So why is this important? When the base of the GOP gets involved they share ideas and mobilize, returning to their counties and communities to spread the Republican message of lower taxes, more freedom, and strong defense. This week 3,500 delegates will converge on Orlando!
Included in the activities are College Republicans, Young Republicans, and Women Republican Clubs Federated from around the State. Not to mention hundreds of Tea Party activists! Our GOP only benefits when everyone is involved. This week is the beginning of our efforts to see that Florida goes Republican in 2012!
Dave Bitner, Chairman of the Republican Party of Florida, elected just this past January, was diagnosed with ALS, or Lou Gehrig’s Disease, and will step down on September 23rd, after Presidency 5.
He has brought stability and accountability back to RPOF after a few turbulent years. Please join me in wishing Chairman Bitner and his wife Wendy God-speed as he fights this terrible and debilitating disease.

My fellow Republicans,
When I disclosed a medical diagnosis that comes with tremendous challenges, you opened your hearts and have never wavered in your support. For myself and Wendy, I offer my heartfelt gratitude for those displays of love and kindness.
At the time I first discussed my health with you, I also made a promise that I would serve as the Chairman of the Republican Party of Florida only as long as I could do so with all the energy and attention this position deserves. I have kept that promise, and it has been the honor of a lifetime to serve you and my beloved Florida. The position of Chairman was not my life’s ambition, but through prayer and faith I came to understand that it was another opportunity to serve my community.
Today, amidst speculation about my current capacity to serve as your Chairman, I wanted to update you. Whether out of malice or in the interest of political posturing, some who had been entrusted with my thoughts about the future shared that information with the media. Something I would never allow to happen on my watch is for the future of the RPOF to be called into question. So, today, after talking with my wife, my friends, and trusted advisors, I have decided to resign my position as Chairman effective Friday, September 23.
Pursuant to Article IX, section 2, of the Constitution of the Republican State Executive Committee of Florida, I hereby call a special meeting of the State Committee for the purpose of a special election. Such special meeting shall be held on Friday, September 23 in Orlando, Florida at the Rosen Centre hotel.
In the days between now and that special election, I will continue to work with our Vice Chairman Lenny Curry to advance our Republican vision of making Florida a better place now and in the future. Since our election to Chairman and Vice Chairman, Lenny and I have worked side-by-side on every important RPOF initiative. Through it all, our Vice Chairman has shown the leadership and tenacity that makes our party such an effective political force.
These demonstrations of leadership and commitment to our Republican cause not only make Lenny a great Vice Chairman; they also make him the best qualified leader for our party moving forward to the 2012 elections. Therefore, I respectfully ask for your vote to make Lenny Curry the next Chairman of the Republican Party of Florida. Lenny is more than qualified to continue the work I have begun, and there is no need for the party to face a protracted race or divisive infighting. In fact, now is the time for us to come together and focus on moving our state and nation in the right direction.
In closing, I want to reiterate the joy I have had working with you. Now is a time when Wendy and I look to God for his grace and wisdom as we write my life’s next chapter.

JACKSONVILLE BEACH, Fla.–So as summer ends I find myself back at the Beach where I grew up for my 30th Class Reunion. I drove over Friday afternoon….its strange checking into a hotel in your former hometown where you grew up, being a visitor of sorts. The evening cocktail party which was scheduled for 7:30pm at a place called Snapper’s in Jacksonville Beach was a great event.
But before the festivities began I took time to swing by my old stomping ground, the stadium at Fletcher Senior High School to visit with my friend Scott Wiley and his wife Becky at Friday nights football game!
Scott Wiley is a longtime resident of my hometown, Neptune Beach and former City Councilman there. Scott is an impressive leader in the Republican movement. He once ran for Mayor of Neptune Beach. See https://www.scottwiley4neptunebeach.com/Scott_s_Biography.html.
I enjoyed watching the football game tonight with Scott and his wife Becky and talking Republican politics. Scott is also I should add the President of the First Coast Republican Club in Jacksonville Beach. When I grew up there weren’t many Republicans at the Beach or in Duval County generally. Now it’s very Republican, with great leaders like Duval GOP Chairman Lenny Curry, State Committeeman Rick Hartly and State Committeewoman Cindy Graves. I am proud of my old hometown and the progress they have made because of these superb leaders, including Scott Wiley.
Did I mention Fletcher High School beat Englewood 63-6? Go Fletcher Fightin’ Senators!
